Kinship with the River Lea
In the Uk, around two million people live in the River Lea basin which covers parts of North London, Essex and Hertfordshire. Of those, a quarter live within a short walk of the Lea or one of their tributaries.

In it's upper reaches, the Lea is a rare and ecologically senstive chalk stream. The Lee Valley includes numerous nature reserves and wetlands, and the Lower Lea passes through densely populated and diverse urban areas. There is a great deal of ecological and community activity within the Lea and many people share a relationship with this unique river.
Through 2026 and 2027, Kincentric Leadership will be offering events, gatherings and retreats within this bioregion. Our aim is to orient individual and community identities towards this beautiful river network, and to seed the understanding of rivers as living, intelligent beings, who we can learn from and collaborate with.
Alongisde others, we will also help grow engagement with local river action and catalyse interest in legal rights and personhood for rivers.
